Welcome to the Flourishing Minds Training Programme
At Flourishing Minds, our mission is to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people to ensure they have a better quality of life now and improved outcomes in the future, enabling them to develop into happy, confident adults. To achieve this, children and young people need a caring, loving, and supportive network of adults who understand children’s experiences and the issues they face, and their vulnerability in society. Moreover, these adults need to know the best ways to support children to overcome these issues.
Often, the adults best able to deliver this support are those who work with children, such as play therapists, counsellors, teachers, and support workers – especially with children who require specialist intervention. These adults are uniquely placed in terms of their existing knowledge and skills to help children deal with emotional and mental health difficulties they are facing. Their roles involve a strong responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of the children they work with, and children’s wellbeing often relies on these adults.
To be able to provide the best possible support to children and their families, these staff need to be skilled and knowledgeable on children’s issues and how to effectively deal with them. At Flourishing Minds, we believe this is best achieved through training and learning experiences. As a result, we offer a wide range of training and learning experiences to help staff develop a positive therapeutic relationship with children. We are passionate about training and want to share our experience and knowledge to help those who are working with children and families develop their skills.
Our training courses are suitable for anyone working with children and families in a range of settings. This includes those who are training as play therapists or counsellors, or who want to start counselling training. It is also ideal for educational teachers, learning support workers, social care workers, social workers, foster carers, and youth workers. The wide range of programmes we offer are designed to meet the needs of those who are seeking continual professional development or who are studying at diploma level.
Our training focuses on problems such as safeguarding, trauma, expressive arts, play therapy, counselling, bereavement, abuse, and children and families mental health. We are passionate about early intervention and prevention, and this is a key element of our courses.
We offer creative learning experiences and we understand the importance of co-creating a training environment that supports individual learning and meets a variety of learning styles. Our training courses are experiential and build upon the existing skills and knowledge of individuals. Our unique mixture of experiential, academic, and practical learning will help staff work with children to facilitate them overcoming issues.
Furthermore, we are committed to affordable and enjoyable training. Our training sessions are limited to 14 people per group, meaning we have time to focus on each individual to ensure everybody gets the most from our courses.
